WHAT IS THE ATOM FEED?
The atom feed is a new format based on an RSS feed, which stands for Really Simple Syndication. This is an XML file that can be read using feed-reading software. (Please see the links to the software below.) If you put the address of our feed - http://hpannouncements.blogspot.com/atom.xml - into your reader, it will display the latest announcements from the Harvest Point bulletin.
This means you can gather many different sources of news and information at the same time. It is also quicker than going back to a site several times a day to check for updates. The feed reader helps to scan for updates and displays them for you.
HOW TO USE THE ATOM FEED?
To view the Harvest Point Announcements feed, you need software called a feed reader. Please see the links to feed readers below, although there are many more on the web you could try:
For PC users:
FeedDemon
For Mac users:
NetNewsWire
For Windows/Mac/Linux:
Amphetadesk
Web-based reader:
(Works in your internet browser)
BlogLines
Once you have installed a feed reader appropriate to your operating system, you can add the Harvest Point Announcements feed by clicking on the atom feed icon you see on the red bar. Setting the feed up normally involves copying the URL of the feed - http://hpannouncements.blogspot.com/atom.xml - and pasting it into your reader.
We hope you enjoy this new way of reading the latest announcements from Harvest Point!
